ThermoBac® - Antibacterial Doors
Bacteria in sensitive environments have an almost exponential growth. Within minutes, the number of bacteria on the interior and surface layers of the room can be multiplied. Even with regular cleaning and disinfection, bacterial accumulations – between cleaning sessions – can quickly grow to hazardous levels.
ThermoBac® is a series of innovative doors with antibacterial properties. The laminate of the door leaf contains silver ions that give a constant antibacterial effect all over the surface. When the bacteria reach the door and door frame, they are immediately attacked by the silver ions that break down 99.9% of the bacteria present on the surface by penetrating the bacteria's cell membranes. The silver ions are active 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Multi-resistant bacteria - a growing problem
Over time, increased use of antibiotics in agricultural animal husbandry has developed bacteria with a resistance to antibiotic treatment. Multi-resistant bacteria are spread to us humans through the meat we eat, and the animal manure used in our fields but also indirectly in activities that openly handle food.
Between humans, multi-resistant bacteria are spread through direct contact but also indirectly via contaminated objects. Similarly, resistant bacteria reach healthcare environments, leading to medical problems, high risk and longer treatment times for patients. By reducing the presence of multi-resistant bacteria at each stage of the development chain, the spread can be limited.

Antibacterial for multiple environments
ThermoBac® includes doors with antibacterial properties for a variety of environments. ThermoBac® doors are offered for food environments such as the food industry and commercial kitchens, but also for medical environments such as hospitals, laboratories, the pharmaceutical industry and animal hospitals.
The catalogue includes hygiene and X-ray doors in both hinged door and sliding door design. A broad standard catalogue is complemented by customized solutions based on special needs.
Common to all doors is the laminate of the door leaves with silver ions that effectively kill bacteria on the surface of the door. The frames are lacquered with polyester powder coating which, like the door leaves, contains silver ions. The doors can also be equipped with the handles and fittings surface treated with Addion.
Durable, safe, and harmless
ThermoBac® door’s laminate exhibits bactericidal properties for most relevant bacterial types and is carefully tested in accordance with current European standards.
The effect is also sustainable in the long term. The laminate is very durable and completely insensitive to moisture. Silver ions are integrated into the gelcoat and are thus not something that can be washed or wiped off.
The laminate has been tested according to ISO 22196:2011
